Trying to find a place to land

Maybe it is just me- but I can't seem to find a board where I fit in.  Here is as brief as I can make it...Had RNY in 2006 lost lots of weight got to my goal- gain a few pounds from grief of m/c...got pregnant again- had my baby, got pregnant again rather soon had my next peanut- then had to have back surgery to correct a disc problem from my spinal with my c-section.  After my 2nd baby never felt normal again...had pain, bloating, tiredness, had hunger all the time, etc.  Knew I was diabetic again.  I was very ashamed of my failure to hold my weight...finally got to see my surgeon...had internal hernia repaired- said he saw a reasonable size pouch but a blind limb forming and that I had a hernia at my c-section site.  Recovered from internal hernia repair....still didn't feel good...pressured and pressured WL clinic to see me- finally had EGD and they said my old stomach and my new stomach were reattached / communicating and I indeed had a sizable blind limb.  Had surgery on an emergency basis (because I went to ER in pain and not feeling well).....so I never really had time to research everything and get my ducks in a row-not an excuse just the truth of the matter.  My understand is that they repaired my RNY by separating the old and new 'stomach' and that they cut off supply to blind limb (remove?) and made my pouch smaller.  I went back to basics as tho I just had RNY for the first time.  My surgeon suggests that I should be back on track with weight loss and back to being successful like prior to babies (he suggested no more babies).  I just don't seem to fit on any forum real good.  It seems the revision board is against revised RNY and their comments scare the hell out me that all this has been for nothing.  So far so good- I am less then 2 weeks out and feeling a lot better physically...but lost emotionally because I don't know anyone that has been through this. I have a ideal for my weight but Dr's I am sure would like it lower then my goal- so I have between 40-60 pounds left to work off (already shed about 12 since surgery).  Thoughts / encouragements.....I am looking for suggestions on protein ideas- bars, snacks, etc.  I don't do shakes or bars usually because they have 'that' taste...though in the last years I have found I few bars I can tolerate. Obviously I am not at the point where I can have them yet- but they were my favorite meal in the am.  I am not a plain eggs kind of girl.  I look forward to going back to old RNY me- the one that was healthy and full of energy..oh- and happy in general with herself.  Thanks for listening.

Hi Jenn. You are most welcome to stay and find your nitch here. We have a few revision folks here that I'm sure will chime in shortly. We're a small friendly board... a little slow paced sometimes but we like to get about with our lives and it's easy to stay caught up with a smaller board. We're here to help and support. I hope you like it here.

Yes- I dont like boards that act like ur an outcast because you have a life outside of OH. I plan on keeping touch around here- probably wont have much to say since I am like a newbie again.

Hi Jenn,
Congrats on your babies! Sorry that you have had troubles, but glad to hear you had the revision you needed at the time.

A place to land?  Why not try here?  We don't bite, we're supportive, and no one has a rabid need to convert you to "their way of thinking."

I just kept trying protein powders til I found some I liked.  I ordered about 24 protein drink samples from vitalady.com (12 per order) and also got some of the proteins other folks here suggested.  I actually enjoy the Jay Robb tropical dreamsicle and a couple of the syntrax like twisted cherry and cranberry fizz. Just takes me double the water they call for, and I add some crystal light to them.   I also go to Starbucks and get their skinny lattes with 3 scoops of protein powder and frankly I can't even tell the powder is in there.

For other protein I do fage yogurt, cottage cheese, and recently I added edamame, one of my favorite pre-op snacks. They are soybeans, and you can boil them or bake them, and are nearly all protein. I add stuff to the yogurt, like pureed strawberries, sf polaner all-fruit and splenda, etc. I also puree stuff, like white chicken chili....

Good luck, and I hope you stick around.

I will stick around a while and try to soak up knowledge and enjoy friendly people (even if they don't bite!).  I will have to try some new protein things- I can remember my husband desperately trying to hide it in his twist of a milkshake the first time around...He was about 5 paces away and I said- OMG I can smell that powder in there.  RNY made my smell super sensitive.  I do cottage cheese, I can never find a darn yogurt that is acceptable to me...I only like vanilla because hunks of fruit creep me out. (told you I'm odd). My favorite was a chai latte I made with sugar free chai mix...they have since discontinued the mix and the milk (carb countdown now calorie countdown?) is hard as hell to find around here.  I keep telling myself I need to explore new options and stay open minded. Thanks for the welcome!

Jenn, you may not find someone with your exact cir****tances here, but there are lots of great supportive folks here.  I find this board to be extremely supportive, non-judgemental, and very positive in tone.

Hang out here. You'll like it.

Welcome, Jenn...

You'll enjoy this board. We come in all types of surgeries but we have one thing in common, we stickup for each other.

Protein shakes are individual things. What fits one may not fit another. Example, Tracey said she liked the Jay Rob. I don't, my taste buds just don't care for that brand.

Then again, I adored Chobani yogurt pre-op...now, I am having issues with it. It just doesn't interest me. Time to find me a new one.

We all have things we like or dislike. All we can do is find what that is. And you WILL get back to your old RNY self, just give yourself time. You just had surgery again. Plus you have a bunch of young'uns to run after, LOL. That will wear anyone out.

Thanks Liz- nice to hear there is a nice group of people out there.  I can't say anything in particular about the people- I just didn't feel like I was welcomed there (it could have just been my impression).  I plan on sticking around and just participating when I can and getting support when I need it.  I have to say I feel amazing after my surgery- just like I said emotionally a little lonely.  My surgeon is very pleased at how well I was doing- I was only hospitalized 1 day and I was out walking the halls. I definitely recovered a lot different..perhaps it is because I am still almost 70 pounds lighter then the first time.  But I can remember feeling like someone ran me over and I literally was begging them to just let me not have to eat after my first RNY cause I had been so sick- I told just give me a feeding tube I don't care. I remember the pain from my surgery- and feel for people who have to go through that, especially more then once.  I am thankful everyday that I am healing and hopefully well on the road to being healthy.
Yeah- young ones and teenager...blessings but definitely a trial on some days.

Welcome to the LW Board Jenn.

You have had a lot going on since 06.  I had no idea our new/old stomachs could reattach.  Very interest information.  Thanks for sharing that with us.

We may not all have the same type revision or surgery but everyone on this board is always so supportive and caring.  Hope you will stick around and keep us updated on your progress.

Take care.
